Yeah, the place was electric. Here are my thoughts. 1st half was terrible. I am going to chock that up to nerves and lack of chemistry with so many new faces. Jereome Garrison did not look good. He was way too emotional and was close to getting himself kicked out of the game until Majerle pulled him. He kept going after another guy on the Western New Mexico team. Kerwin Smith is the future. He could be our first guy in a long time to make it on an NBA team. This guy is a legit post player. He is super long and had some great post moves. He played center most of the 2nd half and looked great. My favorite 5 were Woolridge, Majerle, Braun, Alexander, and Smith. They played well together. Miro Jaksic looks pretty bad. He had one good pass, but seems confused on the court. I was also impressed with De'Andre Davis, another freshmen who looked good in limited time. Tobe Okafor looked okay, but only played 11 minutes. Not sure why... Did you watch the game on Cox?

I felt the Lopes were way to pass happy and were in some kind of trance. Luckily everything got ironed out in the 2nd half, good thing this was a warm up for the UK game. I was curious how Woolridge would do at the point b/c he played that at WSU and looked uncomfortable but last night looked pretty good!

NMSU played Western too and won 102-39 on Monday night. I was at the game last year vs. Grand Canyon when the Aggies won by 18 in Phoenix. I think Garrison can be a great player for you guys but I saw him on several occasions throwing cheap elbows in that game. He seemed to have a fetish with our center Nephawe. Perhaps he's trying to get in other guys heads which I guess is part of the game. However, if he's like that vs. Div. II Western New Mexico, how's he going to react vs. better teams? I would love to see him punch the UNM's coach's son (Neal) in the mouth when you guys play them. He is mega arrogant and obnoxious.

He is the lone guy left from DII and he is taking us into DI. Every game is a tournament game for him as he has not much else to play for. That being said, I think Jerome will not be used like he was last season. We have much more talent this year. I would not be surprised to see him fall out of the staring lineup. Once Dewayne Russell is able to play in December, I expect to see him takeover the point and Woolridge will move to his more natural 2 guard position. I also expect to see Kerwin Smith to move into the starting lineup. This kid is amazing. Could see him with the two guards, Tobe Okafor and Daniel Alexander. Braun and Majerle will be coming off the bench for the long range shots and hustle. We will be well tested, more than any other WAC team by far by the time we get to WAC play. WAC basketball better be on notice!
