I've been a student at GCU for a year and half and I was wondering if GCU has any in-state rivals? Northern Arizona? Because I would find it hard to believe that the Sun Devils and the Wildcats would view us nothing more than a waste of time.

No, no in-state rivals. You have to remember, we are only in year 2 of Division 1. Prior to this we were in D2 and NAIA before that. The other state schools were all D1. While in D2 I would say our rival was Dixie State. Now, we had sort of a thing with Arizona Christian, but they are NAIA and we always killed them. I thought we were working on something with NAU, we played them year 1, at NAU and I thought they were going to come here this season, but it got canceled. I heard they were upset that Dewayne Russell transferred from NAU to GCU. Speaking of Dweezy, he will finally play this Saturday at Indiana! Can't wait.

I knew that we are fresh from D2 but I wasn't sure if we had anything with a in state school that was D1. Being that Im from Seattle I'm not privy all the "rivals" of the Arizona schools minus ASU-UA. I hope NAU and GCU becomes a heated rival going forward I think this could happen even faster if the Big Sky and WAC do something to figure out FBS/FCS thing but until that happens or if NAU drops football like I heard a couple years ago that they might then the OOC has to be the place for them. I think we should get them on the schedule but if they are bitter about Russell transferring to the better school then I guess we can't help that. I honestly can't wait till tomorrow watching him plus the rest of the guys pull the upset!

Yeah, Russell looked good, although all but two of his points were in the first half. I am really disappointed in the big men for this team. No one wants to step up. Can't have guards being the leading rebounders. This was the 2nd straight game they came out after a close first half and get crushed at the start of the 2nd half. That has to be coaching, right? I look forward to seeing DeWayne in person on Monday.

I think we looked ok being that this is our 2nd year in D-1 and Indiana has talented team and we were down only 9 at half. Our bigs are mostly guys who favor shooting the 3 more than rebounding and posting up, I think this is b/c there is a big euro influence on the bigs besides Smith who is just underweight and raw. Our best and most polished guys are guards and we will need to rely on them this year. I think Thunder Dan and the rest of the coaches are doing their best with the bigs. We are young and not deep. I t will be great to see how they do with their next 7 games at home.
